Biography

Born in 1986 in New York, Rima was raised in Dearborn with her parents and her younger brother, Rami. A graduate of Dearborn High School, Rima attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a minor in Business Administration. Active in the campus community, Rima served her fellow students as class senator, in addition to acting as the president of the students in the school’s Free Enterprise Group. Always reserving time for community service, Rima spent much of her college years volunteering as a social worker through various community organizations.

At the conclusion of her 2010 MISS MICHIGAN USA reign, Rima plans to begin law school with aspirations to contribute to the Service Nation campaign, an initiative that aims to inspire a new era of voluntary citizen service in America.

While Miss Michigan USA, Rima will be an advocate for breast and ovarian cancer awareness, the official causes of the pageant, and also those that happen to be very dear to her heart. Demonstrably, she is an active member of the Pink Fund, a financial assistance organization dedicated to removing the short-term financial burden from breast cancer patients, and instead directing their energies toward healing. As Miss Michigan USA 2010, Rima will serve as one of the first official pageant ambassadors for women’s self-defense awareness, educating women on the importance of taking the necessary precautionary measures to best protect and prepare themselves from unwanted situations.

In her spare time, Rima enjoys running, dancing, kickboxing, the outdoors and spending time with her family, friends and, most of all, her younger brother.

Chamkila (2010)

Synopsis

This film is based on popular punjabi singer Late.Amar Singh Chamkila who was assassinated in 1988.Kunal Kapoor is not only acting and singing for CHAMKILA but he is the one who came out with the whole concept of the film and wrote its script.Kunal Kapoor is presently attending music classes to train his voice so that he can act as well as sing for his upcoming film CHAMKILA. Kunal Kapoor came to know about Amar Singh Chamkila (A popular musician in Punjab in the 1980s) while he was shooting for a film on the outskirts of Punjab. It was here when he heard someone talking about Chamkila while listening to his song "Pehla Kam".
The particular voice texture and the kind of music and songs by Chamkila made the actor curious and so he decided to find out more about the singer. Later he and his director friend Navdeep Singh decided to go on with this project which will be produced by Nilesh Dadich.
Being a film based on the life of a musician the music of the film will play a big role. So keeping this in mind Amit Trivedi of Dev-D fame has been given the responsibility for composing the music of the film CHAMKILA. Amit Trivedi repotedly visited many locations in Punjab to look for the right kind of voice needed for the film. Auditions were held in Chandigarh, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandhar where some very talented singers with raw voices were shortlisted.

But in the end a new singer Major Khan whose voice seemed to fit the role, a Rajasthani folk group and a Punjabi band were selected who are now being recorded in Mumbai. The music director is working hard on Kunal's singing skills as well because he wants to record a few songs in Kunal's voice also so that justice can be done to Kunal's role.

Synopsis

Chak Jawana highlights the problems faced by the youth of a village in Punjab. A group of young men become directionless after falling prey to the evil of drugs. This vice makes them irresponsible and affects the peaceful environment of their village. The helpless elders worry about the future of their community. In this atmosphere of despair, Captain Gurjeet Singh (Gurdas Maan) arrives home on a month's leave from the Indian Navy.

Disappointed with the situation prevailing in his village, he pledges to reform the undisciplined young men. He carries a powerful social message of discipline, family values, determination and hope. But can he save the young men from themselves? Can he battle the mindset and prevailing forces?

Synopsis

Sanjana is haunted by nightmares and vivid visions of a murder that took place in the house years before she moved in. She has a special gift or rather a curse to see the unseen… to witness the dark past of any place she inhabits. Not able to take the horrific recreation of the death anymore, Sanjana decides to leave the house and go for a vacation to a secluded fort cum resort in Rajasthan, hoping that those visions will stop chasing her. MUMBAI: The India International Jewelry Week (IIJW), the country’s first such extravaganza, organized by the Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) – is being run from August 15th to 19th at the Hotel Grand Hyatt in Mumbai.

Katrina Kaif, Dino Morea, Lilette Dubey with daughter Ira, who impressed everyone with her performance in recently released ‘Aisha’ – all these Bollywood stars Sunday glittered on the ramp flaunting exotic jewelry and exquisite designs from the three brands of the Gitanjali Luxury group – Queenie for Giantti, Essentia by Mirari, and Nakshatra.

The Queenie for Giantti collection epitomized the power of women and celebrated her style from Cleopatra to contemporary women. The line had a combination of pearls, diamonds and gold in the form of necklaces, heavy earrings and armlets. Tribal designs that had exotic bazubands – reminded onlookers of the Cleopatra era, while a few pieces in turquoise looked contemporary.

Essentia by Mirari was dedicated to eternal love and the collection was titled ‘The Wedding vows’ – it offered heavy necklaces in ruby and gold mix, a lot of pearls and diamonds. The designs were a confluence of many ancient and decorative traditions with the modern touch.

Nakshatra had an exotic and delicate diamond line that is meant for festivities.

Queenie, who has her own range with Geetanjali called Queenie for Giantti, said: ‘Times have changed and so have women. So today they express themselves with various things – be it clothes, style or jewellery. They are aware what suits them and what is the best buy for them.’

Gitanjali sub-brands Gili, Sangani, D’dmas and Asmi too showcased their collection at the second show of the day.

While Sangani and Gili had small and delicate pieces of diamond jewelry perfect for any evening event, D’dmas and Asmi presented a range of chunky, heavy yet very attractive designs in diamonds.
