Ocean of Pearls
Directed by Sarab S. Neelam, Ocean of Pearls is the story of collision between the old ways and the new that we find out who we are. The film is set to be released on 17th June in Canada. Dr. Amrit Singh, a young Sikh surgeon from Canada was born into a family dedicated to their religious beliefs and lifelong traditions. His promising medical career brings Amrit to Detroit to begin work at a state-of-the-art organ transplant and research facility. There he sees his dream of becoming Chief of Surgery dwindle due to his values and appearance. Amrit makes a series of personal compromises to adapt to the status quo. When faced with choices of what is right by his conscience, Amrit chooses dangerously. Straddling the conflicting positions of tradition and opportunity, Amrit finds himself and his faith and begins to understand more deeply what it is to be successful.
The film stars Omid Abtahi, Heather McComb, Ron Canada, Navi Rawat, Ajay Mehta, Todd Babcock, Dennis Haskins, KT Thangavelu, Rena Owen and Brenda Strong. Screenplay has been written by V. Prasad and the film sis collectively produced by Sarab Neelam, Jaspa Kaur Neelam, Jeff Dowd and Jim Burnstein. The film has already won the Best Feature Film Award at Detroit Windsor International Film Festival, Grand Jury Prize Award and Audience Choice Award at Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and Audience Choice Award at Toronto ReelWorld Film Festival.
In April, this film is going to be released worldwide. While its not sure if it will be hitting the major multiplexes in Punjab, it surely is one reputed film worth watching. We will wait for it.
